Fawley Waterside development given go ahead at NFDC planning committee

An online meeting of New Forest District Council’s Planning Committee yesterday (27 July 2020) gave the Council’s go ahead for the development of a new waterside community at the old Fawley Power Station site adjacent to Southampton Water. The major redevelopment will provide 1,500 homes, an estimated 2,000 jobs and public open space on currently disused land in this key coastal and Forest location within the district. Identified as a strategic development site within the recently adopted Local Plan for the district, the innovative mixed-use scheme is a significant, high quality development that will bring much benefit to the area.

New Forest District Council approved the planning strategy that will guide development in the New Forest, outside of the National Park, at their online Council meeting last night (Monday 6 July 2020).

Don’t lose your voice

Residents in New Forest urged to look out for their voter registration details from New Forest District Council (NFDC).

Local residents are being warned not to lose their voice on decisions that affect them by making sure their electoral registration details are up to date. New Forest District Council (NFDC) will be contacting residents this summer, to keep the electoral register up to date and identify any residents who are not registered so that they can be encouraged to do so.

The first phase of Census 2021 recruitment in England and Wales has started and the Office for National Statistics has approached parish councils for help to recruit local people.

Local people make the census, and ONS will be hiring thousands of people over the coming months.  Anyone who is interested in any of the roles can register now at www.censusjobs.co.uk
