The first UK Census took place in 1801, the England & Wales population was estimated to be 8.9 million.  By 2011 it had grown to 56,075,912!

Thousands of comments being analysed as part of NFDC’s draft waste strategy work

Almost 4,000 residents and organisations gave their views on New Forest District Council’s draft waste strategy in a public engagement from 12 November until 20 December 2020. The Council invited comments on the draft strategy which sets out how to reduce waste, increase recycling rates and enable residents to recycle more items from home.

Council improves Sweatfords Meadow walking route ahead of Christmas break

A newly improved walking route has reopened around Sweatfords Meadow in Fordingbridge for people to enjoy this Christmas break. The Sweatfords Meadow walk has been enhanced as part of the New Forest District Council’s Greenway project which aims to improve walking routes in the district and help protect sensitive areas of The Forest.

As we go into the colder winter months, New Forest District Council (NFDC) is asking people to let them know about anyone who may be sleeping rough, homeless or at risk of homelessness, so that they can provide appropriate advice and support.

District Councillors celebrate local businesses in New Forest

New Forest District Council leader, Cllr Barry Rickman and portfolio holder for economic development, Cllr Michael Harris OBE visited Lymington High Street to show their support for local retailers on Small Business Saturday, 5 December. The annual campaign to support small businesses coincided with many local retail businesses welcoming back customers for the first Saturday in over a month, having been required to close during national restrictions.

Caution urged as winter months set in for New Forest animal accidents

Commuters are urged to be vigilant as accidents involving animals in the Forest peak between 5pm and 8pm on weekdays in the winter months.
