New Forest District Council is waiving fees on applications for pavement licences, to support local hospitality businesses in their recovery following the national lockdown.
Proposals to transform the Library Service to achieve savings of £1.76 million were agreed by the Executive Member for Recreation and Heritage, Councillor Seán Woodward at his Decision Day on 28 July 2020. The press release about Councillor Woodward’s decision can be read here.
An online meeting of New Forest District Council’s Planning Committee yesterday (27 July 2020) gave the Council’s go ahead for the development of a new waterside community at the old Fawley Power Station site adjacent to Southampton Water. The major redevelopment will provide 1,500 homes, an estimated 2,000 jobs and public open space on currently disused land in this key coastal and Forest location within the district. Identified as a strategic development site within the recently adopted Local Plan for the district, the innovative mixed-use scheme is a significant, high quality development that will bring much benefit to the area.

Local residents are being warned not to lose their voice on decisions that affect them by making sure their electoral registration details are up to date. New Forest District Council (NFDC) will be contacting residents this summer, to keep the electoral register up to date and identify any residents who are not registered so that they can be encouraged to do so.
The first phase of Census 2021 recruitment in England and Wales has started and the Office for National Statistics has approached parish councils for help to recruit local people.
