Comments invited on NFDC’s local planning guidance

New Forest District Council (NFDC) are opening a consultation period on their ‘Mitigation for Recreational Impacts on New Forest European Sites’ planning document.

The document sets out the details for the approach agreed in the Local Plan to mitigate the impacts from recreational pressures due to new properties being built, and includes measures such as providing new areas of public green space, enhancing existing green space and footpaths, and providing a ranger service to manage access and visitors.

As well as mitigating the impact to the nature conservation sites, these improvements will provide direct benefits to residents and their local environment.

NFDC is now inviting residents in the district to read the proposal on the council’s website and submit any comments for consideration. The draft strategy can be read online at https://www.newforest.gov.uk/article/1938/Mitigation-Strategy

The consultation opens Friday 8 January 2021 and runs until Sunday 21 February.

Comments can be emailed to policyandplans@nfdc.gov.uk or sent to: Policy and plans team, New Forest District Council, Appletree Court, Beaulieu Road, Lyndhurst, SO43 7PA.

Once the consultation closes, the council will review comments and take them in to account when considering adoption of the new planning guidance, expected in spring 2021.
